I have always been drawn to the art of storytelling. As someone who often forgets the punch line of a joke, and loses audiences with too many unnecessary details, I came to prefer listening and watching. Observation eventually led me to become an illustrator of children’s books, textbooks, and editorials for magazines and newspapers.

My illustrations often show women and girls in transitional periods of their lives. A woman about to have a child; another with a toddler; a woman beginning college; a little girl who is not quite sure what to make of her own reflection. My personal illustrations are not based on existing narratives. Rather, they each focus on a single moment. Will the college student buy the book on Samuel Beckett, or Chagall? Will a novel change the destination of a woman with a boarding pass? Each viewer can bring the details of his or her own life to these open-ended stories.
